Mizzou University President Resigns After Football Players Boycott

President of the University of Missouri president, Tim Wolfe, announced his resignation on Monday after pressure from students, faculty and lawmakers for him to forfeit his role.

Some of the Missouri community wasn’t pleased with how Wolfe handled racial tensions on campus as well as other surrounding issues. It was mainly the Missouri football team who boycotted until Wolfe was taken from his position. Over 30 players said they would not practice or participate in any team activities. Several graduate students and faculty members also staged a walkout on Monday.

Coach Gary Pinkel even supported the cause and vowed not to participate in any football-related activities until Wolfe stepped down. The team’s absence would cost the university over $1 million due to potential skipped games.

The university's governing body issued a statement calling for Wolfe to leave

On Monday Wolfe told the press at a university conference that his resignation comes from love.
